Hey Shauna,

The locals call the brick and stone fence surrounding our courtyard "the wall".

It was built by the home's owner and while it is considered quite artistic, many think it's simply the product of drunken stupor. In any case it is simply marvelous.

The wall was once up for demolition as it encroached on the easement line of the road. Neighbors protested and the county actually had it cut intact and moved back to an acceptable placement.

There is a rumor that a local had his wife's ashes buried inside the wall. However the owner denies this, along with many other local stories.

He does admit though, that the ashes of a dear pet dog is buried inside the Buddha.

We have been invited to add our own touch to the wall. Mary and I are collecting beach glass and intend to fill a few of the glass bottles and a glass fish with them.

Mary has also done quite a bit of landscaping in the courtyard, which has recently burst into bloom, thanks to her efforts.

The owner tried to make a vain effort in taking credit for this, but the neighbors weren't fooled. They have all gotten to know Mary and I and we feel very welcome here.

Hope all is well with you Shauna. Curious when you start your first assignment.
